You can now move around the golf course in style. Mercedes-Benz has just announced their all-new luxury golf cart with the looks of a sports car, the Style Edition Garia Golf Car. This is the result of a merger between the German automaker and Garia, a luxury golf cart manufacturer.
In 2013, Mercedes-Benz asked fans of cars and golf to submit their ideas to make a golf cart for the future. They received a submission from Anders Lynge, the co-founder of Garia, and the rest is history.
The Golf Car comes with everything you might expect from a luxury golf cart. It comes with a 10.1-inch tablet that shows the power consumption, current speed, and the cart’s controls. Tapping the screen can alter the driving modes and switch the AC, wipers, heater, and headlights on or off.
The tablet also shows your current position on the golf course, the layout of the course and a digital scorecard. Mercedes plans to offer smartphone integration in future. The vehicle also features a rear spoiler which also acts as a golf bag holder and a five-gallon fridge beneath the bench seat.
The vehicle is made from an aluminum chassis with a double-wishbone suspension. The canopy and seat frame are made from carbon fiber, and the front grille is patterned like a golf ball and has a slot for air intake.
The headlights are jewel-like LEDs with chrome inlays and the wheels are 14-inches. The electric-powered Golf Car can go up to a top speed of 19mph and its range is 50 miles. It also has Eco and Sport performance modes.
For now, the Mercedes-Benz Style Edition Garia Golf Car is still just a concept. However, a production model is in the pipeline. They haven’t released the price, but it should cost more than an entry-level C-Class; that is, after all, the price range of your typical Garia golf cart.
