All sports cars and super cars have one thing in common: they are insanely fast. But what are the cars that will leave everything else in the dirt? Well, if you can afford them, Daily Rubber has compiled a list of cars that are guaranteed to satiate your need for speed.
1. Hennessey Venom GT
Based on the Lotus Exige, the Venom GT is the undisputed road-legal king of speed. It reaches a maximum speed of 270.49 mph, and can potentially reach 278 mph.
The car does 0-60 mph in a blistering 2.7 seconds, 0-300 km/h in 13.63 seconds (A Guinness World Record), and 0-200 mph in 14.51 seconds (a Hypercar World Record).
All this speed comes from a 7-liter LS7 Turbocharged V8 Twin Turbo which churns out 1244hp and 915kW. If you want this beast in your garage, you’ll need at least $1,000,000.
2. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
The former leader, the Veyron Super Sport reaches an impressive 268 mph. It goes from 0-60 mph at 2.5 seconds, edging out the Venom GT.
The engine, a Narrow Angle 8 Liter W16, produces 1200hp and 882kW. If you’re a millionaire on a budget, you might want to skip this, because the Super Sport costs $2,400,000 or higher (if you can find it). When you spend that much money on a car, being second-best in almost everything has to sting a little.
3. Koenigsegg Agera R
The Agera R has a max speed of 260 mph, and goes from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds. Its engine is Koenigsegg’s own 5 liter V8 Twin-turbo, churning out 1115hp at up to 7,250 rpm.
The car has a unique suspension where each rear wheel is connected to a coil spring and a shock absorber. This lets you lower or raise the car when you want.
The Agera R also broke six-speed records, like going from 0 to 300 km/h in 14.53 seconds (bettered by the Hennessey Venom GT). However, it’s still the fastest car to go from 0 to 300km/h and back to 0, doing it in 21.19 seconds.
4. SSC Ultimate Aero
This was the world’s fastest car between 2007 and 2010. It comes with a top speed of 257 mph and goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.78 seconds. The engine is a 6.3-liter Twin-Turbo V8 dishing out 1183hp. The car has a base price of $970,000, but good luck finding one since they all sold out.
