Before we even start talking about the new Bentley Bentayaga we must disclaim that we typically aren’t too wired on the ‘trending’ motor vehicle news scene. This is not on purpose, as a matter of fact, there is a lot of opportunities there but the classics, hot rods and muscle cars have been more our speed.
Despite our focus on big engines and fat rubber tires every now and again something will make us look twice and we are forced to give that trending topic at least a 2-minute conversation.
The people at Bentley have been teasing the first ever SUV for quite some time and apparently, they have made the rumors and hints a reality. The Bentayga is a contender for world’s best SUV here is why:
It’s powerful and fast… very fast.
The Bentayga’s engine is a huge 5.9-liter W12 with an output of 600 horsepower. This lets the SUV—whose gross weight is 3.25 tons—go from 0 to 60 in a mere 4 seconds.
It also means the car can reach a top speed of 187 mph. This makes the Bentayga the quickest production SUV in the world, and all its power is not just for speed the SUV can also tow loads up to 3,500kg.
It Drives Well Off-Road
The big question is: can a Bentley really go off-road? The short answer is: yes. The car has adjustable air suspension which is helpful in rough terrain, hill descent control and the Bentley Dynamic Ride, a console-mounted rotary control that electronically changes the stiffness of the car’s anti-roll bars. It also comes with a trailer assist feature and a 48V anti-roll system.
It’s Luxurious
The Bentayga does not skimp on luxurious features. You can adjust the front seats in 22 ways and the rear seats in 18 ways; you also get to pick between 7 wood veneers and 15 carpets.
There is an 8-inch touchscreen in the dashboard for the driver and 10.2-inch tablets for the passengers behind; there is a gold and diamond Breitling clock in the dash that is automatically rewound; the trunk has a refrigerator for fancy drinks; and more.
The King…For Now
According to the British carmaker, the Bentayga is the world’s fastest, most luxurious, most exclusive and most powerful SUV. For now, they are spot-on.
If you have a few hundred thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket and you love the wilderness, this is the car for you. However, only time will tell if the Bentayga will remain the ultra-luxury SUV champion since Lamborghini and Rolls Royce are also going to release their models.
