As we reach the end of another year it’s a good time to take a look at the great automotive feats of engineering that we’ve been treated to this year. There is no one category of car that dominates the landscape, but there are definitely great options in every category.
The one thing that is clear, is that the advancements in technology over the past two decades have taken car performance to heights that we’ve never seen before. It’s hard to keep this list to just five as there are so many great cars that were produced in 2015, but this list includes our choice for the top five of 2015.
1. Porsche Macan Turbo
The Porsche Macan Turbo is a luxury SUV crossover that has to be considered the cream of the crop in its category. This vehicle combines the sporty feel of a Porsche sports car with the comfort you’d expect in an SUV – without compromising power and performance.
The Porsche Macan Turbo is capable of going from 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds, it has a 400 hp engine, and it can reach a top speed of 164 mph – there are a lot of sports cars that would have difficulty matching these specs.
2. Mercedes-Benz GL class

If you’re a family man that doesn’t want to compromise the power of those muscle cars of your youth and you’re willing to pay for it, you may want to consider the Mercedes-Benz GL class.
This car features all the room and comfort a large family will need and it’s also capable of high performance. There aren’t too many full-sized SUVs that can go from 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds, but this one certainly can. It features a 362 hp engine and a top speed of 130 mph – not bad at all!
3. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible
No list of the best cars of 2015 would be complete without a contribution from the convertible category. If you’re looking for a sporty convertible with unmatched power you need look no further than the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible.
This beast can do 0 to 60 in three seconds flat, has a 650 hp engine, and has a top estimated speed approaching 190 mph – this car is simply in a class by itself.
4. Audi RS7
Some people prefer the convenience of a four-door sedan, but that doesn’t mean they lose interest in power and sophistication.
The Audi RS7 can satisfy your need for the practicality of a four-door model alongside your need for speed. With a twin turbo 4.0 L V-8 that pumps out 560 hp, and a top speed of 155 mph, this car doesn’t sacrifice anything – you really can have it all.
5. The 2015 Ford Mustang
If there’s one thing we’ve never lost in North America it’s our love for the good old fashioned muscle car and fortunately we can still get our fix. The 2015 Ford Mustang epitomizes everything we’ve ever looked for in a muscle car – it just oozes power.
Whether you’re a young man that wants to follow in his father’s footsteps, or a middle-aged guy trying to recapture his youth, this car can scratch your itch. The 2015 version of the Ford Mustang is capable of going from 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds, pumps out 435 hp, and reaches a top speed of about 164 mph.
The Daily Rubber pick of the year – 64 Buick Riviera
We saw this car at the Houston Autorama and while it was hard to pick just one, I have always had a soft spot for Buick Riviera’s. My dad is a huge Buick fan and has owned several of them with 64’s being his favorite. With that said, it had the edge over them all.
Conclusion
2015 was a great year for cars. No matter what your preference whether it’s SUVs, convertibles, sedans, classics, or sports cars, there are some great options in every category. Our list is by no means all-inclusive, but we are sure you’ll agree these are some beautiful automobiles.
